WELCOME TO DAVAO INTERNATION AIRPORT

Francisco Bangoy International Airport, also recognized as Davao International Airport (IATA: DVO, ICAO: RPMD), functions as the primary airport for Davao City in the Philippines, holding the position of the busiest airport on Mindanao Island.
Featuring a single 3,000-meter precision runway, the airport underwent a significant upgrade in 2003 with the inauguration of a new terminal, replacing the older ones situated nearby. This modern facility is equipped to manage around 2 million passengers and 84,600 metric tons of cargo on an annual basis, boasting enhanced capacity and state-of-the-art navigational, security, and baggage handling infrastructure.

Presently, the airport serves 7 airlines and facilitates the transportation of 3 to 4 million passengers each year.

History of Davao International Airport (DVO)

In its inaugural years during the 1940s, the airport primarily facilitated weekly flights exclusively operated by Philippine Airlines and the Philippine Air Force. During this period, DVO also functioned as an outpost for the American Air Force.

By 1959, the airport complex featured a modest control tower and several small structures. Subsequent to this, ongoing land acquisitions and facility enhancements persisted until 1980, when the runway underwent expansion from its initial 1,200 meters to the present 3,000-meter length.

Davao International Airport evolved into a central hub for charter flights to various Philippine tourist destinations, including Mindanao, Palawan, the Sulu Sea, and Boracay. Its strategic location and escalating passenger traffic solidified its role as a burgeoning transit point for travelers journeying between Southeast Asia and neighboring countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Functioning as the focus city for Cebu Pacific, PAL Express, Philippine Airlines, and Philippines AirAsia, DVO presently offers daily flights to multiple destinations such as Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Cebu, Clark, Iloilo, Manila, Tagbilaran, Zamboanga, Siargao, among others

The airport showcases a contemporary terminal building featuring 28 gates catering to both domestic and international passengers, three lounge areas, and two baggage conveyors serving both domestic and international flights.

In the year 2018, Davao International Airport witnessed the passage of 4.2 million domestic and 1.6 million international passengers.
